A new name, the same commitment to you. Southern Cross Support Services and Programmed Care are now Kanda.

Veterans' Home Care

The Veterans’ Home Care Program offers in-home care and support services to help those supported by the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) maintain their health, quality of life, and ability to continue living safely and independently in their own home.

Practical support to help veterans stay independent

If you need a little extra help around the home or with personal care – whether on a short-term or ongoing basis – the Veterans’ Home Care Program is here to assist.

It’s important to note that the Veterans’ Home Care Program is not intended for complex or high-level care needs. If you require long-term, high-level personal care, please explore our DVA Community Nursing Program for more comprehensive support.

Am I Eligible for Veterans’ Home Care?

You are eligible for a Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) assessment if you are a Gold Card or White Card holder for an accepted service-related injury or condition.

Your carers and family members may also be eligible for an assessment. You can access these services by:

  • Contacting the VHC Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450.
  • Asking your GP to refer you for an assessment.

If you are a veteran or war widow or widower, you will be eligible for an assessment of all veterans’ support services under the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) program. How It works:

  • Assessments are usually conducted over the phone.
  • If eligible, you will receive a care plan outlining the services you’ve been approved for.
  • The VHC agency will provide us with the service details, and we’ll then contact you to arrange the commencement of your services at a time that works for you.

Why chose Kanda?
