A new name, the same commitment to you. Southern Cross Support Services and Programmed Care are now Kanda.

DVA Community Nursing

If you are a veteran of the Australian Defence Forces, or a war widow or widower, The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) provides a Community Nursing Program with access to community nursing services to meet your assessed clinical and personal care needs. This DVA Community Nursing Program is completely free and helps veterans stay healthy and independent by avoiding unnecessary hospital stays or needing to move into a care facility. Highly trained Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Home Support Workers provide this care right in the comfort of veterans’ homes.

Are you eligible for DVA Community Nursing?

To access community nursing services through the DVA Community Nursing Program, you must:

  • Hold a Gold Card or White Card.
  • Undergo an assessment to determine your clinical and/or personal care needs.

You can access this service by contacting us via the form above, or through a referral from your GP or hospital discharge coordinator.

In addition to community nursing, we also provide Veterans’ Home Care Services, including:

  • Domestic assistance
  • In-home respite
  • Home and garden maintenance
